You can use this hair hook needle to secure the end of a tuft of hair, for example, if you are going to work away the elastic with a tuft of hair. 

Insert the hair hook needle through the elastic, twist a tuft of hair around the elastic and the end of the tuft you put in the hook. Now pull the hook and the tuft will be pulled tight under the hair. 

Caution! This hook is too large to pass through microrings.
